About US

Our Story

Barratt Galvin was founded in 2014 on a belief that the legal recruitment market deserved something better. After nearly a decade recruiting in the industry, our founder had a clear picture of the service that candidates and clients deserved, and felt strongly that there was room in the market for an agency built on a genuinely different set of values.

Barratt Galvin was built from scratch around a single principle: treat every person, candidate and client alike, the way you would want to be treated yourself. It sounds simple because it is. But it changes everything about how you work.

It means we take thorough briefs and ask the questions other recruiters do not bother with. It means we never send a CV without a candidate's knowledge and consent. It means every candidate we present to a client is accompanied by a detailed, honest brief, not a stack of resumes and a hope that something lands. It means we give feedback, we follow up, and we stay invested in the outcome long after a placement is made.

We have always believed that if you focus on doing right by the people in front of you, the results follow. Nearly two decades of placements, and relationships that have lasted the length of entire careers, suggest that approach was worth building a business around.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Laura Barratt

Director

Hi, I'm Laura. I founded Barratt Galvin in 2014 after a career that began inside international law firms at the highest level. I started as a legal assistant at Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney before moving to London, where I worked at Baker McKenzie and then Clifford Chance. Moving into legal recruitment in 2005, I spent nearly a decade in the industry before founding Barratt Galvin to build the kind of specialist, personal agency I had always wanted to run.

Since then I have built a reputation for quality, discretion and genuine market knowledge. My focus is the Middle East, placing legal professionals into international law firms across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Doha. I visit the region regularly, maintain close relationships with firms and candidates across the market, and bring a current and nuanced perspective to every search I run.

Nearly two decades in this specific market means I know the salaries, the cultures, the hiring conditions and the talent pool with a depth that only comes from sustained focus. I work with a small number of clients and candidates at any one time, which means every search gets my full attention and every candidate gets honest, considered advice.

My focus has always been on building relationships for the long term. Many of the candidates I work with have been part of the Barratt Galvin network throughout their entire career, returning at each stage as their ambitions grow and their circumstances change. On the client side, there are firms that have trusted me with their hiring for almost two decades. That kind of continuity means everything to me. It comes from genuinely caring about outcomes, approaching every search with empathy and discretion, and holding myself to a standard of service that goes well beyond filling a vacancy.
