Legal and Operations Assistant

A reputable and forward-thinking legal practice is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Legal Assistant to join their team. This vacancy has arisen due to parental leave, therefore a 12 month contract option is available for those who prefer contracting. This position is also available on a full time permanent basis for those seeking long term stability.

Supporting a small group of approachable Partners and senior fee earners, you’ll be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support—from diary and inbox management to document preparation and liaising with stakeholders.
Through your daily support to the CEO, you’ll also play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, with scope to get involved in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring:

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines

Confident communication style and a collaborative approach

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Word) and familiarity with DocuSign

Sharp eye for detail and excellent proofreading skills

Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information

Previous experience in a mid to top tier legal environment is strongly preferred. Professional services experience is also considered
Additional skills that will be highly regarded:

Exposure to document management systems or AI-based legal tech

Experience managing busy inboxes and calendars

Problem-solving mindset and a can-do attitude
Requirements:

Ability to work from the CBD office 4 days per week. 1 day per week from home falls on a Tues–Thurs each week and is planned out a month in advance for the entire office

Flexibility to work extended hours on occasion

Willingness to travel to another national office 2–3 times a year for training and team events. All travel is arranged and funded by the firm
