Practice Assistant – Projects & Construction
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and proactive Legal Assistant to join the Projects & Construction team in the Melbourne office of this highly regarded international law firm. This is a fantastic chance to step into a busy, collaborative environment and support a busy Partner who is also head of practice, plus their team across a range of administrative and client-focused tasks.

This firm is a global legal powerhouse, boasting an array of awards in recent years across various sectors. Their office is located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, just a short walk from Flinders Street station.
This is a full-time role, with hybrid flexibility allowing up to one day per week work from home.
The Role
You will provide critical day-to-day support to a senior leader and the wider practice group. Your responsibilities will include:
- Extensive diary and inbox management
- Organising complex domestic and international travel arrangements
- Coordinating monthly billing, processing expenses, and assisting with financial reporting
- File and matter management, including conflict checks and archiving
- Preparing and formatting documents, correspondence, and presentations
- Assisting with business development initiatives, including event planning and updating marketing materials
- Supporting client communication and stakeholder engagement
- Handling a variety of general administrative duties to support the team’s efficiency

The Applicant
The ideal candidate will bring:
- At least 2–3 years’ experience as a legal assistant within a mid-top tier law firm
- Strong organisational and time management skills with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging across all levels
- High-level attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities with ease
- Experience with billing systems and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- A team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support national team initiatives when required
